“And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Why do you go to church?

What motivates you to show up to your small group, Bible study, or IMPACT Cohort?

Familiar Answers To The Question: “Why Do You Go To Church?”-

“I need spiritual encouragement.”
“The worship music is awesome, and the pastor is an incredible speaker.”
“I want to honor and obey God.”
“My kids love the children’s program and I want them to grow up with good morals.”
“It’s just what we do.”

There is nothing inherently wrong with these answers, but the author of Hebrews offers an important answer that is rarely mentioned-

“I go to church to spur on others towards love and good deeds.”

Most of our reasons for going to church or Bible study are focused on what we think we can get out of it. What if you started going to church looking for a brother you could encourage? What if every Sunday you made it a point to pray for at least one brother, or family before you leave? How would it change your approach to church (or men’s group) if you showed up looking to bless, challenge, encourage, and “spur” a brother to love and good deeds?” What if you tried it this week?
