Comfort Is Keeping You From Courage

“Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life.”

Revelation 2:10

Comfort is such an inhibitor to courage. Who wants to suffer on the field of battle, when they can safely watch an amazing war movie on their 65” screen tv from the comfort of the couch? Every decision that most men make today is gauged by how it will affect their CQ (comfort quality).

In Revelation, these words of Jesus pierce through our pillowed living like a sword- If you want the crown of life, remain faithful in the face of suffering and death. In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus knew what He was about to suffer, but He did not let His fear of pain or death keep Him from saying, “Not my will, but yours be done.” (Luke 22:42)

If men are to be like Jesus, they must be ready to run into the battle when everyone else is running away from it. Suffering, pain, sorrow and loss come to both those who embrace them and flee from them, but only the man who remains faithful through them will receive the crown of life. Be that kind of man.
