Have you ever given God a flashlight and invited Him to investigate your heart?

As a child, sneaking a forbidden bag of candy into your room could be an intoxicating transgression. Every sweet and secret bite brimming with indescribable intensity. Your heart beats double time while you unwrap your delectable treasure as it melts in your fingers. Suddenly, the sound of the bedroom door handle begins to turn and you hear your father asking you why the door is locked and to let him in. Immediately pleasure turns to panic as you scramble to hide the evidence and remove the chocolate from the edges of your mouth.

When you open the door for your father to come in, what are you hoping for? Are you praying he won’t see the wrappers of your rebellious indiscretions, or are you excited to spend time with the one person who loves you more than anyone else in the world?

Some men are still treating their relationship with God like a child trying to cover up his secret candy sins. Instead of warmly inviting God into every area of your soul, you are clinching and covering every corner that still has the control of forbidden pleasure in your life. It’s exhausting.

The way to move from an exhausting life to an everlasting life is simple- Give God a flashlight and invite Him to investigate your heart.
