“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

Cruciform means “cross-shaped.” For a husband to become a “Cruciform Hero,” he must become a man who is being shaped by the pattern of cross: love, sacrifice, service, and courage.

A husband shaped by the cross is the hero every beauty (bride) longs for. What is a Cruciform Hero? Here are some descriptions to consider…

  •   A cruciform hero kills his pride, selfishness, and ego daily.
  •   A cruciform hero asks, “What does love require of me?” Not, “What am I getting out of this?”
  •   A cruciform hero does not lead with controlling behavior, but with Christlike character.
  •   A cruciform hero does not make demands to be served but delights in being a servant.
  •   A cruciform hero chooses courage over comfort, love over lust, calling over convenience.
  •   A cruciform hero forgives sin but doesn’t tolerate it either. He doesn’t condemn sinners or condone sin.

Reflect: Would my wife say that I am a Cruciform Hero?

The Swordsman: Wielding the Word — Part 1: Husbands is a new IMPACT Cohort study for men who desire to be great husbands who are skillfully equipped with the Word of God.  We call these men who know how to rightly handle Scripture in their marriage, family, and work lives “Swordsmen.”

The difference between a man with a sword and a swordsman comes down to training and expertise. The Word of God is known as “the sword of the Spirit” and “a double-edged sword,” yet most men have not learned to wield God’s Word like an expert swordsman. In this IMPACT Players Cohort study, men will be trained with the 7 verses that every husband must learn to wield effectively in their marriage.
