Unshakeable Foundation

Say This Out Loud, “My Battle Belongs To You God”

“The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Psalm 18:2

In King David’s times, a fortress, or a stronghold was a place to defend and protect that which was most valuable to a king and his kingdom. You are the king of your home. Are you building a fortress that makes everyone who lives within its walls safer and more secure?

When David was on the run for his life, he did not have any of the man made fortifications that made a king feel safe, strong, and protected. No title, no wealth, no might, and no comfort to run to, yet David was the strongest man in all of Israel. David knew he had been anointed by God, called according to His purpose, and filled with the Holy Spirit. Though the odds were stacked against him, David continued to cling to the battle cry of his sling shot shepherd youth,

“All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” 1 Samuel 17:47

Your battle belongs to the Lord. (Say this out loud, “My battle belongs to You God.”)

God is your fortress, your stronghold, your rock, and your deliverer. Quit trying to build your own kingdom, win your own war, achieve your own success, and secure your own safety. You cannot save yourself, and you definitely cannot save your wife, children, loved ones, or church. Believe in God. Speak greatly of His name. Point others towards God as the only refuge to run to. He is our firm foundation. The Lord is our mighty fortress. The more you live in this belief, the stronger and more unshakable you will become.
