“God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.’”

What are your thoughts about having children and growing a large family? For the first time in recorded history, young men are more eager to get married and have multiple children than young women. This is a key part of God’s creation mandate- Get married, have children, and fill the earth with image bearers and worshippers of God.

If you are single or unmarried, are you pursuing this as a goal in your life? What steps are you taking to make yourself the kind of man who can “be fruitful and multiply” as a husband, father, and leader? Growing in your walk with God, Christian character, and personal responsibility will make you more ready to fulfill your mandate as a man when the time comes.

Other men, who are already fathers and grandfathers, have a responsibility to raise up the next generation of fruitful multipliers. Teaching, equipping and training other young men to be husbands and fathers is now your role in the mandate.

For those that are unable to have children of their own, there is still a place in the plan for you as well. Invest in families, volunteer in your church’s children and youth ministries, and be a blessing to the young dads around you. It’s a team effort, so do not withhold your unique contribution as a man because you do not have a Dad card. We are all called to be a part of filling the earth with the next generation of God worshippers no matter how many children we may bring into this world.
