The Power of God's Word

Quit Despising The Man In The Mirror

“The Law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, bringing joy to the heart; the commandments of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.”

Psalm 19:7–8

----------

When you look at the man in the mirror, what do you see?

Do you see a dreary man, whose soul is in need of pristine life?
Do you see a directionless man, whose steps are in need of guiding wisdom?
Do you see a depressed man, whose heart is in need of fresh joy?
Do you see a depleted man, whose eyes are in need of new light?

The Word of God is the best medicine for a man who doesn’t recognize the man looking back at him in the mirror. No matter what your malady, God’s Word in your life is the remedy.

For the dreary man, the perfection of God’s Word brings him to Jesus, the source of living water.
For the directionless man, the trustworthy wisdom of the Word of God will illuminate his steps on a path back to true living.

For the depressed man, the righteous truths of Scripture set him free from the lies that are holding him captive from experiencing joy.

For the depleted man, the radiant light of the Bible’s commands will reignite the spark of purpose and passion in his eyes again.

Here is the key… the man in the mirror needs you to stop dwelling on what is wrong with the man in the mirror.  What the man in the mirror needs more than anything is to gaze upon Christ and be transformed by the renewing of his mind. A man may enter the throne room of God feeling dreary, directionless, depressed, and dreary, but he cannot remain that way in the presence of the Almighty.

Reflection: (Don’t skip this!)

  • What do I need to know?
  • How do I need to grow?
  • Where does this need to show up in my life?
