The Battle for Your Soul

A hand surrounded by darkness reaching out to the light and hope of rescue by God.

“you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul, for I am your servant.” - Psalm 143:12

Do you know that there is a battle for your soul? Satan, the Enemy, has set his sights on devouring your soul, like a roaring lion (1 Peter 5:8). In this Psalm, David speaks repeatedly on the battle for his soul that was being warred. Read and consider how the Enemy may be seeking to destroy your soul and the secrets to victory that David uncovered.

“For the enemy has pursued my soul; he has crushed me life to the ground; he has made me sit in darkness like those long dead.” -  Psalm 143:3

Satan is pursuing your soul, he wants to crush your spirits, steal your life, and leave you in a dark place, absent of hope and life. If your soul is feeling crushed and you are trapped in a dark place emotionally, it is important to understand that this is Satan’s intended purpose. Satan is intentionally working to make you feel this way.

“Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way that I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.” - Psalm 143:8

God is the rescuer of our souls. His steadfast, unwavering love is our only path for restoring our souls and refreshing our spirits to hope and health. When you are in the pit of darkness, look up and reach out to the light of God’s grace. When your soul is dry and barren like a parched land, stretch out your hands to God and ask Him to quench your soul thirst. (Psalm 143:6)

“For your name’s sake, O Lord, preserve my life! In your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble!“ - Psalm 143:11

God has built His name, reputation, and glory on fulfilling His promises according to His righteousness. This means we can count on God to come through when we find ourselves in big trouble. No matter what the scoreboard tells us, the game is never over if we are on God’s team. We will win in the end.

“And in your steadfast love you will cut off my enemies, and you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul, for I am your servant.” - Psalm 143:12

The Enemy has been defeated. Jesus crushed the head of the snake through His glorious resurrection. Jesus is returning, and when He does, He will destroy all the adversaries of our souls. Until that time, we trust God and serve Him. He will do what He has promised. As we serve God daily, He will guard, heal, restore, and refresh our souls out of the abundance of His steadfast love. Allow God to conquer your soul and rule on the throne of your heart. Jesus is a worthy and mighty King.
